I bet they could figure out a better way to work out balancing these budgets if they wanted to do that. Maybe their rich friends in the business world could be putting in their fair share instead of working every trick in the book to cheat America out of any of what they make here. There could be a simple tax put on businesses with no loopholes whatsoever.

If a company gets a dollar gross in revenue in the US, they could pay 25 cents of it to support the infrastructure where they’ve gotten it. No loopholes, no more corporate subsidies, no more tax breaks. No taxes after the net is calculated, and regardless of what is paid to whoever the jackasses are running the company, no matter what is paid to shareholders in dividends.

If they make a dollar in sales or revenue then from the gross, they pay America 25%. And, they can give another 1% on top of that gross to the states where they did business. If the sales were made in the US, then the sales and business revenues are taxed 25% with no deductions, no loopholes, nothing. And, every industry subsidy that is being paid out right now in the hundreds of millions of dollars can simply be stopped immediately this budget, this year, right now.

How about that –

The brokers that are playing games with our state treasury money and our national budget dollars can simply get a flat fee of $100 dollars per trade with a cap of no more than one transaction per day. Then, the salaries to those armies of attorneys can be stopped as well by getting the software which does the same thing and replacing the fifty attorneys with one – or two – neither of which are allowed to make more than our teachers make a year. And, the financial managers can work at that same salary as well. And, every four of them acting in the state and federal offices can be replaced with one who knows what they are doing.

That works.

So what it means is that they are playing with monopoly money.

My Note.

***

It is like a chess game with an eight-sided board and all the players are playing at once, making alliances, talking shit, remaking alliances with other players to win on the sly, and then remaking their own staunchly defended plays against all the other players.

Except that they are all playing with our money – and our children’s money and none of their own.

***

I’ve thought a lot about the dimensionality of debt, because it doesn’t stay in one place, nor in one level of the operation – not in a business, not in a nation or a state and not in one’s own family budgets. The facts is, debt has a way of migrating up, down and sideways into other places. It always affects something far removed from wherever it started and almost all of the options of punting that debt elsewhere have astounding consequences which also migrate up, down and sideways into other areas.

So, I looked at the US debt from a reference point of twenty-five years, which it honestly won’t ever be extended in quite those same terms because the debt is being traded. That makes it more of a game of chance added to the side-gambling that would occur on the eight-sided chess game or in the stock market / credit interest swapping that goes on in the financial products markets.

With the US debt greater than any of us will see in our lifetimes – the fact is that we are spending more on the interest for the debt than on most all of the domestic spending programs combined. That means – there is where the money is going and about to go instead of being available to help anyone. I would say that is the real problem.

We are actually financing out national debt at all kinds of different prices with a vast range of returns which means the interest we are paying exceeds that average on the vast majority of the debt instruments.

The problem with the idea that we could cut the budget and cut all the domestic programs to fix this debt burden is that it isn’t the actual problem. The only real thing our money is doing is to pay the interest on the debt, nothing else is actually going to get done.

***

There was a point at which Japan decided to be tremendously better at something than anybody else in the world in order to fix the budget problems they had. The determined that quality excellence could not be matched if they simply focused on that. China decided that they could compete effectively by producing goods more cheaply in greater quantities than anyone else. For that to work, their government supported their workforce. They combined their efforts, educated their citizens and focused on an area at which they could win – in both countries.

What have we done? This is not 150 years ago obviously. We have revenues and wealth but it is flowing in massive circles only at the top of our society. It produces virtually nothing at this point except to breed on itself, thieve from the people it is intended to serve, and massively constitutes its own industry serving itself. It has become a beast. Even those in our government have been bought by it, serve it to their friends rather than back through the nation, and they have every intention of keeping it that way.

Well, we don’t have time for that. The stupid short-sighted games being played with the money in our Treasury and our State budgets will not serve the people of America nor our future as they are planned right now. If we leave it that way, an entire generation of our children will be lost to those years of education rather than a better job done with it. An entire adult generation’s potential will be lost and as much as I would love to invite you to the nightmare I’ve lived for my adult lifetime – it would be tremendous, if we just do something else.

The Republicans are diverting the money from programs claiming to “cut” the budget while they pay Wall Street brokers fees larger than it would take to support these programs in order to “invest” the money from the state treasuries. Each time a trade is made, a fee is paid. For every four teachers on the payroll, it is the equivalent of one attorney in the army of attorneys that each state is employing in nearly every department, city, county and branch of the state government, including the governors’ office and legislature. For every five teachers (or six in some counties) – there is one financial manager’s salary that will be paid instead.

That is what they are changing. It is a diversion of resources to the wealthy and their friends again. After paying the banks for all of their losses and covering every single toxic asset they had bought, by purchasing those from them, now we will be supporting nothing but the banks and financial institutions. Just as the charts above show – there is a price for doing it that way. In every state, the interest being paid as the debt is re-capitalized and re-capitalized, means that the lion’s share of the budget is now going out to pay the interest, the bankers, the bondholders, the financial managers to invest it and trade with it, and the losses from those financial “investment” decisions that went horribly wrong when Wall Street played us three years ago.

When the financial crisis was just becoming a question of not whether it might be the “R” word, (a Recession), but rather a question of how long it might last, the experts said it might be a couple or three months of a downturn and certainly not over 6 -8 months long. I said that they needed to tell people it would be at least five years that they could be unemployed. And, that turns out to be the truth of it for at least a third of our population and maybe more. The unemployment numbers leave out so many categories of human beings alive in our nation that are not employed because the jobs simply don’t exist, that the concept of adding that many more homeless people, hungry to the point of desperation and hopeless beyond measure, to the total of our society is a choice that these Republicans have never experienced in their lifetimes.

It is just a matter of time and they will understand what it means when people have nothing to lose and no investment in the society to which they belong en masse. It will explain itself in terms they can understand.

I said it before, and it is worth saying here – not one of these Republican legislators that are choosing these cuts can actually do math (except maybe two of them), and unless someone does these budgets for them – they wouldn’t know how the money is moving around either. However, they do know this part –

What happens when the entire country goes on strike starting right here, right now?

Not one person in Washington DC or in the halls of state congresses can cut their own hair, mow their own lawns, cook their own food, teach their own children, drive their own cars, wash their own clothes, walk their own dogs, relax themselves, entertain themselves, shine their own shoes, do their own manicures, have sex without help or in fact, do any of a number of things that are required in their everyday lives for things to go smoothly either. Maybe its time they learn that they are not the most and only thing around.

The next time one of them asks me a dumb computer question – I’m going to tell them the same thing they tell me, “you’ll just have to figure that out yourself.”

I won’t be looking up something while I’ve got a minute nor tell them how to do it. And, I won’t be checking the directions to explain how anything works to any of them for quite a while, nor looking it up in the nearby dictionaries and reference books. They can explain it to their own kids and they can figure it out without anybody doing it for them. No more.

And, I’m going to say, “well, I just don’t know who you can get to do that for you the same way they have explained it to me when I asked them,” instead of pulling from my mind how to find the best person that could help and figure out to find that person for them.

Not doing it anymore. I’m on strike.

Like my mother said some years ago about washing dishes and other housework – she went on strike and liked it.

We got to learn how to wash the dishes ourselves and do the housework and cooking. I wonder if those people in Washington know how to fix their own cars? Or “detail” their own cars and pump their own gas in the damn things? President Bush was out of his element when he tried it. Should be interesting to find out.

On the playground when two children fight and one is bigger, stronger, taller and meaner, given to bullying without any interest in doing things in any other way, there is payoff that the bully gets. The bully gets the adrenaline rush, the proof to himself that he is indeed more powerful and in control of the situation, the forced fear upon all those who witness it and the feelings of superiority to all that he views. But, in real life, in a bigger world – these things are decidedly more expensive to those that are bullied. The bully has no greater power regardless of what he may feel he has. There are not winners. Everyone loses.

As Governor Walker, Speaker Boehner, and other leaders of the Republican Party bully those around them as they have done all this time and continue to do, no one wins. They have their eyes on a privilege and a prize which is not theirs to own. This nation can be run without running it into the ground and if they honestly believe America is to be second best or third for the remaining future of our nation, then they have already lost in a greater world and are literally enacting it at their discretion however inadvertently. There are business leaders that I’ve heard from Wall Street and elsewhere in corporate America that say our time has past, and that we will no longer lead the way. Then, if that is the case – they need to get out of the way and let us lead, because they have already accepted defeat.

We wouldn’t be in this situation had it not been for the Republican leadership and the enhancement of business interests at the expense of all else. It is as if they are playing the game as the schoolyard bully has done intending to get their own measure of power at once and without regard to what else it may cost to those around them. That is fine. We agree with that on the play yard. Oh wait, no we don’t. And, in fact, we don’t agree to it for the same reasons that we are facing now as a nation. The cost is too great. Everybody loses in the long run. The bully for that momentary pleasure of control and command loses their standing as a true leader and can’t be trusted by anyone after that. When asked to participate, the bully takes complete control of the situation regardless of his ability to lead, to measure, to compute, to be the best suited to the needs of the situation and whether his innate abilities will be the best to win the day or whatever is ahead for the team. That just doesn’t work as we can well see in the situation our country currently faces.

Nobody wins.

Barely 50% of the 42% that voted in the last election, (and in some states it was even less than that) – who agreed with the conservatives, the Republicans, the Tea Party or the right-wing agenda that they represent. That is not enough to have the agreement of the entire nation as they claim. And that is number one.

Number Two is that the Republicans have had the helm for the better part of thirty years and we are not better off for it. Personally I don’t think either one of those Parties should be running the nation exclusively – it doesn’t work well. Surprisingly the Independent Party and Libertarian Party as well as the Tea Party are all backed and saturated with conservatives and conservative interests. They are bullies. They are the same bullies as the business leadership have been and the Republican Party have been for thirty years. It has cost this nation dearly and there is no explaining it to them why their way and only their way is wrong. They are in a war game for control while those more tolerant and compromising simply are kept out of the game altogether.

Number Three is that 90% of the wealth in this nation is being controlled by such a small percentage of the population that it now defies the use as currency. There is no currency value in it if it isn’t available for necessities, goods, services, utilities, rent or purchase of shelter, transportation, food, clothing, starting a business, employment or meeting the needs of life as we know it. By keeping those funds secured among the very wealthiest, it counts their decisions far more importantly than those of everyone else, even in totality. And, just as the bully described above on the playground, by taking command of every situation at hand because of superior placement and power of position to control the leadership and command the situation – it doesn’t mean that will work well.

Number Four, is that each of us is uniquely suited to approach the situation differently as assets or as liabilities. Our nation doesn’t look at things quite that way and when it has been described – those bullies of the conservative perspective and mindset have believed that means something like “worker bees and worker bees can only be worker bees – queen bees can only be queen bees, drones and other such nonsense.” But, that is not what it means. There is a game to be played but it is not with ourselves as a nation. We need all our ducks in a row to do it. Or better yet, we need the kind of mentality that won the Revolutionary War as we used the best, the most creative, the most innovative approaches in order to win against an outside enemy that had forced enslavement and economic disparities upon us without our consent.

***

Governor Walker is being a bully and what he will never understand along with his conservative Republican peers is that he will lose, even as they believe the battle has been won for ideology and chalk up the win in their own little black books. The fact is, he can’t and won’t teach the children in Wisconsin and babysit the brats. He won’t be doing it next year or the year after or keep doing it even as it gets harder and harder to do. That won’t be Newt Gingrich, or Walker or Dick Morris or the crew from FoxNews out there doing it and Rupert Murdoch wouldn’t last one day in a classroom teaching 13 year old students, six year old children or anyone else. So, to say they are adequately capable of knowing how to lead teachers to do a better job and give it their best – that would be way off. And, apparently, they don’t know how to fix an economic situation adequately either or they would be doing it to increase the revenues across these states rather than diverting the funds as they are doing, hiding them, redistributing them and decimating their states and the nation in the process.

We don’t need everyone in America fighting for the sustenance of a little bread and a roof over their heads with so much stress that they beat the hell out of each other in their own homes and have the incentive to thieve simply to live. That won’t work to help us match the competitive economic war grounds in the world with a matched competence and increased chance of winning.

And, that is what is going to be the most important for the future, both immediately and in the far-reaching distance.

We are the only nation that I know whose children are learning to speak two or three languages. We are one of the few nations that are taking our best and brightest, putting them on a football field and having them beat one another’s brains into permanent brain damage. We are the only nation that insists on taking music and art out of the schools while we pay for it to be added to every back woods, backwaters place in the world to help students learn to develop their abilities for math, science, engineering, ordered thought, creativity and innovation all at the same time.

What the Governors and Republican conservatives in particular, are doing in disrupting this opportunity for our nation is to set the future course of America on a downward trajectory rather than a higher one where we would have more security, greater prosperity and sustenance, better more extensive opportunities for all and a better world including the future living environment across America.

As an example of how people “on the ground” so to speak are affected by their decisions whether we would’ve agreed to them or not –

This is from a 2009 article that I posted on April 3, 2009 – look at the news now and see what people are suffering because of this very mess and the way it was handled – and look how our financial crisis was handled and it will be obvious we did the same thing –

RBS has posted the biggest loss in British corporate history – £24.1bn – and is now majority-owned by the taxpayer after a £20bn bail-out last October.

The Government’s 70% share will be formally confirmed at a separate meeting.

This could rise to as high as 95% after a deal to dump more than £300bn in “toxic” assets into a taxpayer-backed insurance scheme.

My Note –

We essentially bought the toxic assets that the banks and financial firms were using to play their gambling games. Their ideas about how things had to be done left us all with the bills to pay on it and then to have us blamed for it. They were running things. Their Republican buddies were decision-making. They chose to do it that way and then chose to have us all pay for it when it went horribly, horribly wrong for them. That is bullshit. They have worshiped that damn ball-less brass bull out there on Wall Street for damn far too long. And, now to use those mind-altering perspective management “frame of reference” crap games on the American people while the billionaires sponsored Republicans gut every single program that might help the American people stand on their feet again and launch an effective stand against a much greater world engaged in economic wars with us – is just wrong.

The bully does not win though he may think he does in each battle against another to set himself above everyone else. The pain and difficulties he causes are born by the whole group each and every time and over the entire course of when the bully is allowed to perpetrate his wrongs upon others. How many harms did the bully ever fix? How many of those whose suffering he caused are ever put right by the bully? And, when life finally rears its ugly head upon the bully, how can he possibly be ready or internally strong enough to know what to do or how to handle it when everything has only seemed to go his way without ever being real, character building, genuine experiences that build strength?

He always loses. History tells us that. In small ways, from the playground view of the bully to the great lessons from history of mankind, we have seen that the bully loses – Nero lost, Caligula lost, Louis the whatever that no one can even picture in their own mind to this day – definitely lost. They did not win.

And, I might add – Nixon lost. Reagan has gone to meet his maker and the ones who thought everything those around them did was the “right” thing have since suffered for it – so no, they didn’t win. All they did was left a nation weakened still needing to pick up the pieces of what they destroyed and go forward.

The Press Association: Libya calls on UN to lift sanctions

via The Press Association: Libya calls on UN to lift sanctions.

Meanwhile, Gaddafi’s government asked the UN Security Council to suspend the sanctions it imposed against Libya a week ago, insisting that “no opposition has been raised to peaceful, unarmed demonstrators”.

From the UN Charter – (there’s more, of course – link follows it)

Article 39

The Security Council shall determine the existence of any threat to the peace, breach of the peace, or act of aggression and shall make recommendations, or decide what measures shall be taken in accordance with Articles 41 and 42, to maintain or restore international peace and security.

Article 40

In order to prevent an aggravation of the situation, the Security Council may, before making the recommendations or deciding upon the measures provided for in Article 39, call upon the parties concerned to comply with such provisional measures as it deems necessary or desirable. Such provisional measures shall be without prejudice to the rights, claims, or position of the parties concerned. The Security Council shall duly take account of failure to comply with such provisional measures.

Article 41

The Security Council may decide what measures not involving the use of armed force are to be employed to give effect to its decisions, and it may call upon the Members of the United Nations to apply such measures. These may include complete or partial interruption of economic relations and of rail, sea, air, postal, telegraphic, radio, and other means of communication, and the severance of diplomatic relations.

Article 42

Should the Security Council consider that measures provided for in Article 41 would be inadequate or have proved to be inadequate, it may take such action by air, sea, or land forces as may be necessary to maintain or restore international peace and security. Such action may include demonstrations, blockade, and other operations by air, sea, or land forces of Members of the United Nations.

Although this chapter doesn’t explicitly apply to Libya – it actually does –

and the intentions it covers are inherent in all the charter’s underlying foundations for its purposes –

And, Libya is not, nor has it been “self-governing” –

CHAPTER XI: DECLARATION REGARDING NON-SELF-GOVERNING TERRITORIES

Article 73

Members of the United Nations which have or assume responsibilities for the administration of territories whose peoples have not yet attained a full measure of self-government recognize the principle that the interests of the inhabitants of these territories are paramount, and accept as a sacred trust the obligation to promote to the utmost, within the system of international peace and security established by the present Charter, the well-being of the inhabitants of these territories, and, to this end:

  1. to ensure, with due respect for the culture of the peoples concerned, their political, economic, social, and educational advancement, their just treatment, and their protection against abuses;
  2. to develop self-government, to take due account of the political aspirations of the peoples, and to assist them in the progressive development of their free political institutions, according to the particular circumstances of each territory and its peoples and their varying stages of advancement;
  3. to further international peace and security;
  4. to promote constructive measures of development, to encourage research, and to co-operate with one another and, when and where appropriate, with specialized international bodies with a view to the practical achievement of the social, economic, and scientific purposes set forth in this Article; and
  5. to transmit regularly to the Secretary-General for information purposes, subject to such limitation as security and constitutional considerations may require, statistical and other information of a technical nature relating to economic, social, and educational conditions in the territories for which they are respectively responsible other than those territories to which Chapters XII and XIII apply.

Article 74

Members of the United Nations also agree that their policy in respect of the territories to which this Chapter applies, no less than in respect of their metropolitan areas, must be based on the general principle of good-neighbourliness, due account being taken of the interests and well-being of the rest of the world, in social, economic, and commercial matters.

Chavez, Qaddafi Call for African-South American NATO at Summit
Global Research, September 27, 2009
Bloomberg News

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi called for the creation of a southern hemisphere alliance mirroring the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, to counteract the influence of the U.S. and Europe.

They spoke yesterday at the second South America-Africa Summit in Venezuela, where Chavez brought together 30 heads of state including Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil, Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe and Algeria’s long-time leader Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

“For African countries it’s closer to visit our brothers in South America and we share the same interests of liberation and revolutionary ideals,” Qaddafi said. “Colonialism humiliated us, insulted us and robbed us of our riches.”

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=15413

***

My Note – (as I posted on facebook a few minutes ago about this – )

[The above article] is from 2009 – as Qaddafi has been trying for a number of years to create a southern hemisphere NATO like coalition to engage equal force against what he has considered “imperialism” of the northern hemisphere nations. Now he demands that the UN sanctions be lifted despite killing thousands of unarmed protesters (who are now poorly armed with Qaddafi’s own stores of old equipment) – and continuing to have his troops drag people out of their homes to be beaten and arrested in Tripoli.

And, his friend Chavez is gathering other Latin American leaders to form a coalition backing Qaddafi to fight for a “peace process” as defined by Qaddafi and Chavez which intends no real consequences for his actions. That would not serve the people of Libya very well, not the nations of the world, nor the rest of the world’s populations that have been terrorized by this man and his evil crew of criminals and terrorists.

About the International Court – (from the UN Charter) – ChapterXIV

http://www.un.org/en/documents/charter/chapter14.shtml

***

from the UN Charter –

This is the part in Chapter II – that Libya’s leadership defiled, defied and consummately refused to adhere to –

Article 4

  1. Membership in the United Nations is open to all other peace-loving states which accept the obligations contained in the present Charter and, in the judgment of the Organization, are able and willing to carry out these obligations.
  2. The admission of any such state to membership in the United Nations will be effected by a decision of the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council.

Article 5

A Member of the United Nations against which preventive or enforcement action has been taken by the Security Council may be suspended from the exercise of the rights and privileges of membership by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council. The exercise of these rights and privileges may be restored by the Security Council.

Article 6

A Member of the United Nations which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council.

Not only are there thousands of eyewitness accounts, there is also video recordings from the journalists and cameras there along with cellphone videos and evidence of the harms done, maiming and killing of the Libyan people through the facts determined by doctors who treated them and the people who buried their loved ones after being slaughtered by Qaddafi’s forces. So, it appears that the only one who does not know this is Senior Qaddafi, King of the Southern Hemisphere and all of Africa as he thinks he is.

Or, maybe he has just been hanging around with liars for too long. It probably doesn’t pay to tell him that there are people in his country that don’t like him and despise the barbarity of his wealth mongering brutality.

It was written in the information about Qaddafi’s daughter that she served as a defense attorney for Saddam Hussein. I’m not sure if that is true or not.

It is interesting though.

Qaddafi is going to stop. He’s going to stop because it is in his nature, not because he cares about Libya nor the people of Libya. He is going to stop because someone is going to be intelligent enough to stop him and to stop his regime. And, he is going to stop because his nature is human, not some invincible demigod. That being so, he will stop or be permanently defused, disarmed. and his ability to cause harm utterly destroyed.

***

Freedom is not a four-letter word. “Kill” is a four-letter word. That seems to be the only word Qaddafi knows to tell his people to do, not prosper, not to share the wealth of his nation with his nation’s people, his intention is to “kill” the West, “kill” what he considers imperialists, “kill” the people who disagree with him, and “kill” his nation’s future.

Why should ten people be allowed to do that?

Qaddafi and his top ten to twenty people are the only ones running this horror upon Libya, and after drawing mercenaries from Africa’s neighboring citizenry those horrors are being perpetrated upon them as well. He has drawn the entire world in this and won’t be happy until the entire Southern Hemisphere Coalition he believes he heads up is engaged in a civil war with the rest of the world. (with him at the center of it.)

That is way too much power for any one man to wield and his family has apparently never learned the word, “no,” except when they are using it. Now is time they learn what “no” means in the hands of others.

One other item from the UN site of interest particularly – (and this includes the oil companies, engineering companies and others doing business in Libya and other firms) –

It is called the Global Compact –

From their page –

What is the Global Compact?

The United Nations Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

http://www.unglobalcompact.org/

***

My Note –

Our international businesses have agreed to do the best they could do on these things and they know how important it is. They have sent decision-makers to learn more about it and have agreed that the costliness of not doing the right thing in these matters is far more expensive, far more unfair to their own business goals and far more unpredictable in the long run.

Business assets are put at risk, human lives are put at risk, opportunities to do business are put at risk and business investments are undermined when human rights violations are rampant, the environment destroyed and corrupt governments are let run without consequences.

I would hope that businesses will cooperate fully with the UN and world leaders as they work to support the goals of the Global Compact, the UN Charter and their underlying principles, both in Libya and elsewhere. It will make the world safer for people and better for business at the same time.

Our goals are the same. Together we can make a difference.

The Press Association: Interpol alert over Gaddafi regime.

Interpol’s alert covers members of Gaddafi’s family including seven of his sons, among them Saif, and his daughter Aisha, as well the defence minister, the head of external security, the director of military intelligence and Gaddafi’s head bodyguard.

The alert is intended to help ensure police authorities in Interpol’s 188 member states enforce the international travel bans and asset freezes imposed by the United Nations Security Council.

FT.com / Companies / Oil & Gas – Oil millions still flow for Gaddafi.

This report from Financial Times states that the Qaddafi regime has continued to receive money from oil exports – including $770 million in the last two weeks. It is also clear from this article that nations who signed agreement to the Security Council resolution to freeze assets have failed to hold those oil income revenues for the people of Libya after Qaddafi’s regime has ended, which is what they are supposed to do and what the companies involved are supposed to do legally.

That is one article of interest –

and this is another about the efforts to put pressure on the international community in the ways that it suits Qaddafi, his sons, his daughter and their government ministers involved in decision-making. It looks a lot like they have a lobbying firm/ pr / and some consulting firm working with them to strategically interact with their efforts to sway public opinion and international options that have been already taken.

Wouldn’t it just be easier for the Qaddafi regime to simply stop killing their own people, not hinder the exodus of international citizens who wish to leave, not brutalize any more of the people within their range and make some more reasonable choices?

If it turns out that some consulting firm from Washington or the UK is helping these bastards of the Qaddafi regime, I do hope they understand that they are breaking the international sanctions that have been brought to bear on the criminal behavior and human rights violations that are being perpetrated by the Qaddafi family. And, it will be discovered before everything is done – regardless of how much money the firm has been paid. I was thinking of some of those kinds of firms which have helped the Qaddafi regime in the past which brought us to this nightmare in the first place.

My Note –

This is a situation which should have had Saudi’s attention – their planes could’ve already taken Qaddafi and his vile sons off the planet, but no – why not? Qaddafi tried to assassinate their leadership in Saudi Arabia – they have planes and well-trained military assets. It is in their best interest to protect the people of Libya – why aren’t they doing something to resolve this mess?

And, the Saudi Arabians know that Qaddafi and his sons are vile atrocities of mankind. They’ve screwed over just about the entire world. He tried to make a civil war for power between the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere of the entire planet.

What kind of international leadership of any kind would leave a man and his regime that is that foul in a position to do anything else?

Surely, the oil companies know it is also in their best interest to get this corrupt, sadistic and psychotic man out of any position of power anywhere – along with the rest of his family that have ordered torture, maiming of citizens, arbitrary seizures of citizens and bribes, stolen, killed, murdered all over the world, terrorized the world’s nations, supported horrendous suffering in Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone – (among other places in Africa and throughout the world) and has stolen the riches, wealth and economic opportunities from four generations of Libya’s people.

This is absolutely insane. Qaddafi’s daughter may have a law degree, but her ability to resolve this by “standing” is not going to solve the real issues of their illegitimate, brutal and vile regime. She needs to get off that boat. Right now, not only is there no exit strategy to bring the members of the internal guard away from supporting this horrific man and his sons, but there is also not a good answer for the massive military assets they control against an unequally armed population. The people of Tripoli serve as a defence for Qaddafi and his compound, but are not being served by it. There are any of a number of nations whose interests would be protected by ending this situation with Qaddafi and his regime removed from power of any kind anywhere on this earth. And every day he perpetrates new nightmares with his family and decision-makers.

It would take one single guided missile to be done with this. And, for what reason do we all stand by and let him continue to brutalize his people and keep the world at bay while he terrorizes at will?

No.

Enough was enough in 1987.

* A nation’s leadership cannot be considered legal by international standards when it is known to have committed atrocities against innocent populations of the world community and further, when it is publicly confirmed that its regime has committed ongoing atrocities against its own citizens without cause.

Further, when a nation’s leaders have lost the legitimacy of the major stakeholders in the region including that of its own citizens, was never elected by its people in the first place, has oppressed, brutalized, committed terror, backed terrorists and terrorism, funded terrorism, supported other brutal dictatorships in brutalizing their people and supported denial of basic human rights in far-reaching perpetration of their own brutalities on humanity – then that government regime is neither legitimate nor legal in any international terms of law.

– my note

***

In fact, when the Qaddafi regime was given its “free pass” by the US, the UK, the UN and the international community – that, in all likelihood, given the other things that were known about it at that time – was not a legal, nor legitimate international decision. Its basis was afoul of the law at the point at which arms sales, military assets and sophisticated military training programs were made available to such a regime of known brutality against its own people and as a supporter of terrorism.

Egypt’s new PM cheered in Tahrir Square – CSMonitor.com

The crowd cheered Sharaf, who briefly served in Mubarak’s government as transportation minister from 2004-06.

But they also chanted “the people want the fall of the state security,” the much feared and hated security apparatus accused of egregious human rights abuses under Mubarak.

Sharaf acknowledged their demands and distanced himself from his predecessor, Mr. Shafiq, who had appeared tone deaf in the face of such cries.

“I pray to God that I see an Egypt where free opinions are voiced outside prison cells and security agencies serve the nation,” he said.

He urged the protesters to begin rebuilding Egypt, and, repeating a popular new slogan, said to the crowd: “Lift your head up high, you’re an Egyptian.” (etc.)
