Adding two designs together and this happened – absolutely pretty and very nifty – I like it.

Sailboat Sailing Abstract Watercolor with Blue Light Orb Bubbles by CricketDiane 2013

Sailboat Sailing Abstract Watercolor with Blue Light Orb Bubbles by CricketDiane 2013 – Adding the background image behind the watercolor made this sailing abstract even more stunning in a different way. Very fascinating how it changed the original and makes it seem to float against that sky.

I love how it changes with this background of sparkling glitter in blue-purple making it look like stars in a night sky on the ocean and sailing into dreams.

The two designs are so different in how they place the abstracted sailboat and its sails as well as reflecting in the water across the foreground beside the boat. These designs also have such vastly different feelings to them portrayed by this one change in the background elements selected to show through the design. I like them.

In between, I did try a number of other backgrounds and published several of them before getting to the sparkly sky. It was strange how much the various choices changed the original artwork in feeling and interpretation. Some things make the sailboat seem to float off the page and others nearly overwhelm the image but create an interesting design nonetheless. I published some of those.

Sailboat Abstract Watercolor with Glistening Shining Lights Background Sky by CricketDiane 2013

Sailboat Abstract Watercolor with Glistening Shining Lights Background Sky by CricketDiane 2013 – after creating a number of versions, this one caught my imagination with its change in focus of the sailboat being made larger and the glistening lights in the background.

Sailboat Abstract Shining Lights Lightening Sea 2 by CricketDiane Art and Design 2013

Sailboat Abstract Shining Lights Lightning Sea 2 by CricketDiane Art and Design 2013 – Amazing. The image behind this is not a great photograph of lightning but rather a very boffo photo that I saved and loaded into Zazzle because of its amazing light trails. It was accidentally photographed in the city when I jerked the camera as the photograph was taken. It is used here at an angle behind the sailboat for an extreme lightning effect and I love it. Very nifty.

Now, I’m about tired of fiddling with this design and ready to do something else. Not sure how many I created today, but more than a few and tried a huge number against different things in the editor before posting the ones I liked pretty well. Honestly, it is fun to see how the different elements work behind the original sailboat but then it is also tedious considering how many have to be tried to find the one or two that work in ways that are visually interesting. I really liked doing the clocks yesterday that I designed. They were so much more quickly surprising in their styles and illusions as I tried things on them. That was fun.

These designs above were only done on postcards, by the way. Later, it might be good for me to go back and make a range of products with some of the designs. I’m not sure if they are currently usable on anything other than the postcard because of the individual designing that I did on each one as I created them.

Maybe I’ll do pillows next.
