8 bells specially cast by the same foundry that made the ones for Big Ben are singing along the Thames along with bells echoing out from the churches throughout the city for the Queen’s Jubilee – they just said on CNN – actually one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. I woke up and flipped over to CNN just in time to see the Queen’s Jubilee with her standing in that beautiful white sparkling coat and hat on the most ornate boat I’ve ever seen floating down the Thames. To be a world away and get to see that – absolutely amazing.

Here are some nifty places to find more pictures and the history of the Queen’s reign – the Jubilee is being covered Live on several channels including CNN obviously and online –

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/#

The Times UK has a number of special sections on the Diamond Jubilee and the most amazing picture of the Queen on the opening page.

There is a boat going down the Thames with an entire orchestra playing with the boat covered in a wind guard – amazing.

So many people all along the River waving British flags – and so many boats . . .

Amazing.

So many people standing along the Thames waving British flags and now the Royal Barge floating beneath the Tower Bridge with it raised for one of the few times that is done and military boats being shown on the CNN coverage – they must be in the flotilla somewhere moving along – absolutely stunning. All the senior Royals are on board. The Royal Barge is now turning 360 degrees in place in the River. Amazing.

**

CNN says there are six cameras on board the Royal Barge for the public to have a better vantage point during the parade – And, I think they said there is a throne on board? The note on the screen said the flotilla will pass under all thirteen crossings on the Thames. I can’t believe I’m actually getting to watch this. So many people happy and celebrating all at the same time around the world for the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee. That is amazing too. It will go on for four days.

I don’t think this is the right page for the Live Coverage at CNN – but some nifty slides are on the page –

ABC and likely BBC are carrying the coverage too in America. (I’ll see if I can find where they are online.)

They are playing Greensleeves – in the orchestra barge – CNN (Mr. Quest, I think) said it is being conducted by the man who had conducted the London Philharmonic for years – Now, I’m going to have to go look up his name because I missed it – but I got to see him in the tele coverage – how nifty.

It feels stupid to cover the event as I am watching it on tv but I’m so glad to be seeing it – now there are two different boats that were shown with bagpipe corps in two different plaids – one the Stewart red argyle looking one and the other, the green and blue plaid of the Queen’s night guard or something – (CNN didn’t say that, I did.)

That is the London Philharmonic Orchestra wandering down the Thames playing music – amazing.

At one time, the Lord Mayor’s flotilla would move down the Thames once a year until something like 1850 – 1860 when the river’s currents became swifter and the stench of the river became too great – the news coverage was just saying . . . hmm….. interesting.

There are roses draped across the viewing stage where the Queen and Royal entourage are standing on the barge – there is probably online livestream coverage but the major news sources seem to have the best vantage points and moving coverage throughout the length of the flotilla and the city along with nifty info about it as they are covering it.

It is strange to think that the last time this happened was during the reign of Queen Victoria such a long time ago – The Diamond Jubilee has awakened worldwide celebrations in the 16 countries of the British reign and beyond. Absolutely amazing.

One of their slide show photos shows women and girls with their hair colored in the British flag colors – looks like done by chalking the color on – very pretty and stunning.

The are street parties all over London and probably throughout the UK today and for the next three days – the Jubilee events are scheduled throughout this four day celebration starting today.

They are showing the bells on the barge ringing during the Thames parade. Beautiful and pure tones ringing from them with a person standing their literally ringing them by hand with a rolling gizmo . . . hmmm…… on a boat.

and all the church bells ringing throughout the city – hmmm….. I bet that is amazing in person.

British Anthem – Land of Hope and Glory being sung on the Thames right now from barges in the rain as the London Philharmonic plays it (also on a moving barge in the rain under a tent thing) – Amazing.

The 5.55 pm London time start to the anthem –

There is a barge turning in the middle of the river right now which holds the singers on top of it and maybe the orchestra. They are about to have the National Anthem – They are showing a view from where the Queen is standing as the musical barge with the London Philharmonic comes to park next to them from the middle of the Thames – Yes, I’m watching CNN. The Royals are semi-dancing to the nifty Haydn music right now as they wait for the parking to finish. Amazing.

stand up – it is the British Royal Anthem here in a minute – hmmm…….

not yet – but certainly patently pageant music with the national anthem translated in it – Yes Rule Britania and then, God Save the Queen and fireworks from the Tower Bridge – they are lowering the bridge now and smoke is being sent out across the river with everything completely silent but the sounds of ships’ steam whistles and a fly-over by a plane, maybe the Swordfish that was expected. The Queen waving and the multiple gun’s salutes from the military ships. Amazing.

My note –

I don’t know how often anyone thinks about it – but the most amazing female role model – a hero for women and women’s rights everywhere is actually Queen Elizabeth II. For the degree of integrity, applied intelligence, honor and genuine decency – there is none other that even come close among men or women. I would always hope the best for her. God Save the Queen.
