View of the New York sky looks like a helicopter is chasing a jet passenger plane.

The street directly in front of the stables and park gate is made of really old hand-made bricks from another time - on down the street on either side the brick has been asphalted over.

or is it stones that have been hand-cut? Hmmmm………….. I’ll have to go back and run my hand over them before they get asphalted.

There is so much to learn .  . .

Looking up the street from the stables and park with huge buildings looming in the distance.

So, if I worked here – this is the New York I would see as I set out for home.

Cricketdiane First Day Walking Tour New York City - 2010 - city living and business spaces - architectural elements

A cabinet shop at street level with what looks like living spaces in the floors above - interesting architectural features could easily be over a hundred years old.

What a strange place to find Jon Stewart's Daily Show - I like this photo with the American flag mounted from the fire escape near the top of the building next door included in the picture

Limos of various types show up everywhere juxtaposed against yellow leaves of fall trees, old buildings, odd places to find tire places and garages where work on cars goes on and tv studios like the one in the photo before this - all combined into the same small spaces

Across the street attached to the building is an elegant, peaceful green space with benches and old-fashioned lamplights, beautiful old trees now draped with bright gold autumn leaves.

Hard to see through the reflections in the window – I was actually taking a picture of the ad on the wall with Robin Williams as George Washington and the Let Freedom Ring campaign together with the logo on the window and the sky. The reflections caught an even more comprehensive view with the unloading of an SUV, cars traveling the street and parked along the other side.

Looking down the street - in the distance is a large building with a baby-sized building hovering next to it identical to its parent. Seen beyond the struts of the traffic lights in the mistiness of the morning. On the right side of the street (about where the traffic light hangs in the picture), there is a church shoulder to shoulder with the buildings next to it, including pointed arches and stained glass windows snuggled between everything else. Amazing.

First Day Walking New York City cricketdiane - bad building for a new world

ugly. - supposed to look like separate buildings, has windows that don't open, probably central air and unfriendly to human life - beautiful sky. I wish they wouldn't build buildings like this - surely there is a better way. We have those in Georgia too - they have sick building syndrome from the time they are built, the materials leech horrible chemicals into the closed interiors and there is little natural light in the work spaces they contain. Nightmarish and ugly in every way.

I hate seeing things like that built anywhere – they are an absolute nightmare.
