My Note –

I was listening to the music on Larry King tonight just a little while ago and remembering what it was like when I walked in the oil covered coast of Santa Barbara – it isn’t explainable – there aren’t words to say it until someone sees it and smells it and knows the death that is there. The Gulf of Mexico gone for our lifetimes – for what?

And, every one of the mocking, snide, snickering comments for years about anyone or anything that said the environment is important . . .

what did they think we meant?

That turtle they are showing right now is saying, “okay, let me down now – lemme down.” He was flapping about and done with this interview.

My Note –

A few days ago, there was a beautiful 11 year old girl who decided to make her art for the birds and animals of the Gulf of Mexico. She was on CNN and her name is Olivia. She is making donations of the money that her paintings and drawings bring. Amazing. And, her art is so bright and joyous. I think it was on CNN – now wait, maybe it was Good Morning America. Oh, durn – I’m going to have to look it up. Go girl, Olivia.

And, on the Larry King Live show just now – the announced that Target has given $50,000 to the efforts for the Gulf of Mexico in this amazing telethon fund raising for the people and animals. Wowsa. Thankyou Target stores. You are our company, a friend of our national interests and our people. thankyou.

Over the course of this day, I was typing a list over from the internet which has over a hundred of the largest shareholders of BP – they ought to be calling Larry King right now and give some of the multitude of profits they’ve been making investing on BP and other oil industry companies over all these years. The time has come to join the human race.

Now, see – I didn’t even call them jackasses, wasn’t that nice . . .

It is great to see a member of the surfing community manning the phones tonight to help the people and animals of the Gulf of Mexico. There have been volunteers from the surfing community that have been joining to help in the cleanup and other efforts to raise money and lend a hand in the communities affected by the oil spill. Very nifty.

I swear, I’m going to list the shareholders of BP stock if they don’t get up and help. And, if BP had any good sense, Bozo Tony Hayward would be calling in a large donation.

– And, there’s Olivia – she is so much nicer than I am about this.

She is amazing.

There are some comments coming in on the phones, said someone just now – I’m sorry I didn’t catch who said it – but the comments are “how does this affect me?”

With the Gulf of Mexico covered in oil and dead wildlife, let’s see – what planet are these people calling from?

The ocean is supposed to look like that, not covered with oil and oil covered birds and oil covered fish and turtles and dolphins and sharks and whales drinking oil, breathing crude oil, filling their eyes and gills and the only places where they can live.

The one below is in the original colors I used when I painted it and I like it – Its my favorite, too. Yeah, about like a puppy I had once who grew into a real big dog that found everything was his favorite kind of food, no matter what it was. I liked that dog.

This is one of my favorites, nonetheless, probably my most favorite . . .

My Note –

From AC 360 – Anderson Cooper just now was talking to a man whose ships service the oil rigs and he said this moratorium is likely to go 24 – 36 months and will destroy him. He also said that if the MMS (whose name was changed today to Ocean energy something or nother) wants second blowout preventers put on the sea floor which would be too heavy or too cluttered or something else that didn’t work in his estimation – etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum. However, that sure is jumping the gun quite a bit, considering –

it’s only been two months of the moratorium, maybe not even quite that, because the moratorium wasn’t done the same day as the explosion and oil spill. And, what does he mean, the sea floor couldn’t handle a secondary blowout preventer – what all do they have down there?

– cricketdiane

Maybe we’d better start finding out what he knows that the rest of us don’t know about all this.

There are so many things to be fixed, but most of all it mostly needed fixing anytime before now. That makes it more difficult than it seems it would have been otherwise. And, that includes the oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico.

I suppose that’s way beyond BP and Tony Hayward and the oil industry to understand in the measure of things that are important.

– cricketdiane

***

We want our ocean in the Gulf of Mexico back the way it was, but that probably can’t be done unless we do some things far beyond what they’ve been doing to fix it. I’m glad that so many people donated to the three charitable funds hosted by CNN tonight on Larry King. It is amazing.

I’m very sad that so many people don’t understand why it is important and how this will affect them. That kind of thinking needs some negativity to wake up and smell the coffee that is brewing right under their nose. And, that is a real shame – that even now, they just don’t get it.
