Sir Victor Blank to step down as Lloyds chairman

Embarrassing showdown at bank’s annual meeting loomed as scale of losses at HBOS soured the rescue takeover brokered by Blank

[ . . . ]

Blank brokered Lloyds TSB’s rescue takeover of HBOS with Gordon Brown in September and initially won plaudits for preventing the collapse of the mortgage lender. But the takeover has crippled Lloyds after HBOS lost £10bn through loans to property companies in the UK and Ireland. Lloyds Banking Group was formed in January when the takeover was completed.

[ . . . ]

The chairman’s position was made more difficult when the Lloyds chief executive, Eric Daniels, told the Treasury select committee that the bank had carried out less due diligence on HBOS than it might have preferred because of the speed with which the deal had to be brokered.

My Note –

Not only are the fees for copyrights going up and have been going up and becoming more inaccessible for most people but they have become the most confusing, mucked up bunch of stuff I’ve seen lately. But, there you go.

My suggestion –

I am going to work through the information on the FAQ page and on the WIPO, World Intellectual Property Organization again since it has been awhile and see what the best way would be. To start with a ton of money and register the copyright everywhere for every part of it is probably the very best choice, maybe – but that is extremely prohibitive for many people including me.

From the US Copyright Office –

Shown below are fees for copyright registration, recordation, and other services. Note that there is now a lower filing fee for online registration of basic claims through the electronic Copyright Office.

Effective August 1, 2009, some fees will change. Fees marked with an asterisk are proposed by the Copyright Office and will go into effect August 1, if Congress does not take action to disapprove them. Fees without an asterisk will take effect on August 1 based on regulations to be issued by the Copyright Office.
