Resource Management – Acquiring Stuff – 2008 – Cricket Diane C “Sparky” Phillips – USA –

Resource Management
2008 Cricket Diane C Phillips

1. What is available?
Believe it or not, I start with a broad scan of what is available before focusing on what is needed for a project or group of projects. When I’m searching across these broad areas, it includes local resources across the community and nearby cities as well as online and specialty resources pools. This also includes any and every possibility I can generate for places to look.
For instance, there are always huge bins of salvageable resources in “tear-offs,” remodeling and construction industry discards. These represent large pools of tangible resources that can be used for a multitude of project requirements. There are also independent contractors who are involved in construction projects who recycle and send into the community some of the things they happen upon during their work that can be approached to acquire certain things from electric motors to wiring, wiring harnesses and other industrial salvage. This is only one example, but there are many throughout our communities and in nearby city centers.

2. What is needed?
After taking a look at where large pools of certain resources are abundant and reviewing my goals for the project, I look at what is needed. Sometimes, the look at abundant current pools of resources does influence changes in the project, but most of the time, it does not. The next thing to do is to either get a list on paper or get a list, general or specific, in my mind. It depends on what it is – if there are over twenty items, more or less, I generally keep the list in my mind rather than on paper because that works better for me. The main idea is to be congruent, coherent and concurrent in acquisition processing. There is no sense missing the opportunity to get three things from the same place because a list is being processed one item at a time.
I always determine at this point, how important is it? This is a critical judgement at this point in the process because if I don’t know how far I’m willing to go to complete the project, I won’t have a basis of judgement or justification for climbing over the hurdles that will be part and parcel of resourcing the project.

3. What condition of assets is required? (Does it matter if they are brand new or not?)
Sometimes, a brand new item within a project group is the only thing that will work for the integrity of the finished product. If that is the case, I want to determine that as early in the process as I can. Then, resourcing that item may be limited to cash in trade or in kind trade or some other limiting method. Otherwise, how new does it need to be? Most things do not have to be brand new and occasionally, reconditioning may be required.

4. How much (in what quantity) is required?

5. Is the entire quantity required at once or at the start? (Or can it be done in stages?)

6. Besides stores and other retail outlets, where are these resources located?

7. In what quantities are the resources available at the places listed?

8. What barter, trade or cash is required to get these assets?

9. How quickly can they be acquired, delivered, rounded up?

10. Now, decisions have to be made -

A.) Yes, go ahead -
B.) No, not worth it -
C.) Probably, but need more info -
D.) Likely, but need better resource choices – or access choices -
E.) Maybe later, set on a shelf for another time and relook later.

11. Next, acquisition processes begin -

A.) Negotiate
B.) Barter
C.) Trade
D.) Clean-Up
E.) Trade-Up
F.) Exchange
G.) Borrow
H.) Beg
I.) Steal – (not really – permanent borrowing when approved by owner)
J.) Buy New
K.) Buy Used
L.) Buy Auctioned
M.) Buy Discounted or Clearanced
N.) Buy or Trade Salvaged
O.) Buy or Trade Online
P.) Collectors Exchange
Q.) Hobby Trade and Exchange
R.) Opportunity Exchange
S.) Barter Platform Websites Exchange and Trading
T.) Specialty Convention Trading
U.) Co-ownership – Joint ownership (for tools and large equipment)
V.) Rental or Lease
W.) Sponsorship – Get someone to sponsor acquisition
X.) Rare acquisition sources, trade – barter – buy
Y.) Pawnshop, Impound, Impound Auctions, Alternate Sources
Z.) Extreme acquisition sources, trade – barter – buy (also find a good excuse for one-time use purchase by someone or some group and buy it from them after that.)

Analogic Thought – Part III – (IV) – 2008 – Cricket Diane C “Sparky” Phillips

Analogic Thought – Part III – (IV) – 2008

2008 Cricket Diane C Phillips
Cricket House Studios – USA1

The way I use analogic thought processes and analysis generally is goal-driven. It doesn’t have to be goal-oriented, however.

An open-ended exploration to discover what is there can be made analogically by simply collecting all factors and elements found as they are. In this case, a goal need not be present to reflect exclusion of anything found. All is brought to the table as a set of facts, excluding nothing.

But, how do I process those elements if they are not processed logically?  What other choice would there be to understand the facts located for the set?

Analogic processing compares relationships which generates sets of questions to answer, such as

1.  Where were these “discoveries” in the set found in relation to their original environment and in relation to one another?

2.  Over what period of time were they discovered, in what order or arrangement and in what condition?

3.  How have they changed in time from the moment they were discovered until now and before being found?

4.  In what ways do the items in the set relate, in what manner are they alike, in what ways dissimilar, and obviously of the same set besides time and location discovered?

5.  How do these elements fit together in a greater picture?  In what associations are they a representative part of other sets, other factors, other lines of connection and what part of other larger pictures do they serve?

This last question is not to be confused with representative “pie slice” aberrations of thought which say a slice of the pie is representative of the whole. It is a faulty assumption of logic to believe that a pie slice is capable of providing accurate ratios of elements in a whole pie or in a whole picture. This item number 5 above is different than the “pie slice” logic.

The process defined in analogic reasoning seeks to find the likely representation of links into greater systems and processes that may be evidenced by the factors or items in a set.

Let’s say, for example, that I came upon a piece of paper with four numbers on it and two words. That will be my set for the example. Element one is the paper, its location, condition and time it was found. Element two would be what is written on the paper, the way it is written, the method used to write it and the character of the writing (hand-writing or machine generated).

Element three would be the position of the numbers and words in relation to the physical parameters of the paper, their relation to one another as written on the surfaces, the relationships of the words and numbers to possible larger sets and these relationships to the placement and time of where the paper was found.

Now, honestly, this all happens very, very quickly after using this way of thinking for awhile. Its more cumbersome writing it all out than it is doing it because our brains are made to think this way in the right hemisphere, and to process all this in an instant (or pretty close to an instant.)

So, let’s use these numbers on the paper which appear randomly on its surface: 1, 3, 9 and 2.99 ; and these words; milk, Joey. That would make one hell of a sentence. It could be part of one sentence in a quick note, so there is a possibility.

Six physical number indications – not a phone number. One item and one name would make a strange shopping list but I have daughters, you never know what may be in their idea of “shopping for”.

Because I know there are more elements of discovery here than those already listed, I’ll share what else I see . . .

1.  Pressures of pen or pencil greater on some elements of the writing than others,

2.  Crumpled edges, a small grease stain on one corner like burnt motor oil rather than kitchen grease,

3.  The smell of sandalwood incense and something else like diesel carbons on the paper,

4.  I didn’t find this in the trash, nor fully crumpled but in a spot on the floor of the attic near a box of both girls’ junk they left there,

5.  I don’t know Joey and they’ve never mentioned him when I was paying attention,

6.  Joey may be a girl or a guy and I am never sure if milk means the white stuff that I buy to drink or is what?

7.  The term 2.99 could pe a price or a time because we indicate time with a dot rather than a colon and often use military or international time signatures, even my children do and old roommates did also,

8.  Why does it matter? Sometimes it does & sometimes it doesn’t but if this note does indicate my children are milking Joey for $2.99 – I need to have a talk with them about getting more money. And, I don’t care how old my children are – it would probably be good to meet Joey.

9.  The other element present is that there are faint indications of spray across the surface of the paper which look like a soda bottle, beer or other fizzy beverage may have sprayed across its surface or someone blew into the bong instead of sucking on it or was siphoning gas and spit it out or who knows what. It isn’t the spatter from clean water.

Putting all these elements together as our set on an example here is for the purpose of comparing logical processing with analogic processing.

Logic says, where did I find this and who does it likely belong to? Then, ventures a guess – an educated guess, but still – a guess, and sets about to find other supporting evidence for this guess or theory. Unfortunately the drawback of this process is that all or nearly all other elements are discarded in the process of supporting the guess that may have been incorrect in the first place. The process continues well into its latter phases before the assumption is clearly proven or disproven. In the process, much of the available facts and elements that belong to the set are discarded, ignored or misinterpreted to fit the premise.

Analogic, holistic processing can overlook factors as well. The only difference is that the entire premise isn’t compromised so far along into the process. There is always an element or factor implied in analogic reasoning called, “what is not there, what it isn’t, what could or should be there that wasn’t there.” This implied category is ever present and inherent in the process of its comparative analysis form.

In our example, the category includes a.) it isn’t on yellow legal paper or fancy note paper, b.) it wasn’t found put away nicely nor hidden though it may once have been, c.) it isn’t new, current nor recent, and d.) no one in our family may know Joey or ever have known Joey.

This example throughout indicates the basic processes of discovery, implementation and comparative analysis processing relationships among similar and dissimilar items without a goal-driven, determined outcome. It is different and human beings need both logical processing as well as analogic processing in order to do well, accomplish, create solutions to complex problems and real-world situations and to survive. That is why the human brain is made to use both approaches, not one to the exclusion of the other.

It is neither crazy, nor left-handed, nor sick, nor evil to use analogic holistic styles of thinking, processing information, creating and analysis. What is crazy is for each of us to be built for doing it in perfect capacity and not use it.

That social and oppressive tactics have been furthered over centuries to force the dominance of logic and the hindrance of all other forms and pathways of thinking is barbaric and ignorant. It borders on the sad fact that we have all been denied very inalienable rights and freedoms even within the confines and privacy of our own brains’ capacities and how we utilize them.

Not only for today, but for all the tomorrows before us, I would hope that each and every individual be allowed and encouraged to process, learn, use, develop, create with and explore with the abilities of both sides of their brain, not just one. And, that denial of this very basic freedom be changed.

A note about the example used -
As it turns out -

–> Joey isn’t a person – it’s a kangaroo on loan to a zoo.
–> Milk was spelled MILK  –> which stood for Martin Luther King Blvd in Atlanta (mis-abbreviated).
–> The numbers 1 , 3  –> 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. were show times (1,3) respectively.
–> 2.99 was $2.99, the discount admission price with a coupon.
–> 9 (a.m.) Was the time they would meet at the church with the group going to see it.

–> and the spray was from a Dr.Pepper that exploded in my kitchen when the note was sitting on the counter there.

Further,
daughter was working on her change the fuel pump project with the note in her back pocket as she laid on the ground to get to it.

She was planning to drive her car and go with some of her friends along and they got the discount coupons through a social services agency and the church group paid for breakfast.

–> and $2.99 wasn’t all it cost because they spent around $20.00 for lunch and gas to get there & back.

—– and “Why would I know somebody named Joey?” inquires daughter, now in her twenties which indicates something but I really don’t know what.

Which all leads to one very glamorous and educated truth -

The A-Z List Of Stuff That Will Help You Do This -

2008 Cricket Diane C “Sparky” Phillips

Cricket House Studios, USA1

1. As a practical matter – I am a firm believer in the 3×5 lined card . . .

a.) 3×5 lined cards (about 200)

b.) lined & un-lined paper (not drawing paper)

c.) graph paper (2 gauges) & isometric paper (grid)

d.) tracing paper

e.) lots of pencils & hand-held double sizes sharpener

f.) one black pen that writes smooth

g.) two red pencils, one red ink pen

h.) yellow highlighters, one pink pencil, one yellow pencil (with yellow color “lead”)

i.) some dry erase markers (different colors, sizes & styles) + some wet-erase markers and grease pencils

j.) post-it notes, flags & 4×4 notes, in assorted colors

k.) file folders, manilla & colors (box of 100, not legal size)

l.) non-reproducing blue pencils – at least three ( because, just because people heist them.)

m.) color sticky circles, assorted colors

n.) color 3×5 cards – yellow, pink, green, blue

o.) 3-4 (or more) magnifying rules, glasses, magnifiers with differing magnifications

p.) rulers with clear markings for in/cm and grids, some see-thru / some metal with cork backing

q.) dictionary & thesaurus & encyclopedias (not new ones)

r.) stapler, staples (standard size)

s.) paper clips – assorted colors (no uncoated metal, they rust.)

t.) spiral – bound notebooks, lined paper pads (pull-out)

u.) color index tabs – clear with place for label to be used on folders (rather than as divider tabs)

v.) cable television, am radio, internet high speed, library card, habit of returning books on time.

w.) 1″ notebooks with identifiers on them

x.) glue sticks and stickers variety for identifiers on notebooks, folders, 3×5 cards, etc.

y.) clear and magic cellophane tape

z.) a willingness to write in margins & use a highlighter & dog-ear pages of books & magazines that belong to you & a computer printer attached to your computer with extra ink cartridges and clean paper / cardstock

so –> also a computer, printer and handy to have some digital cameras or access to them. If all else fails, use the computer time at the library and buy an electric or manual typewriter from a thrift store or yard sale. Whatever it takes to make it work.

+ 3 Rules -

1. Sign and date what you write, this time – every time, (even notes, shopping lists, doodles).

2. Place name of resource, book, website on all notes from it (somewhere with “cont.” & book title on each page taken from it.)

3. Do not expect dictionaries and encyclopedias to contain all words & references in them. They don’t. Find on internet search engines or call reference librarian at local, central or University libraries and ask. Spell word for the librarian clearly and politely, concisely explain where you found it and request that its meaning be looked up for you.

Please thank the librarian each time you use this service and be pleasant even if they are not. Also, there are foreign language translators online and dictionaries, search engines for specific relevance, like engineering terms, chemistry, etc. Use them when it is applicable, it is much easier.

Line In The Sand -

What I Do That Works -

2008, Cricket Diane C “Sparky” Phillips

So when somebody draws a line in the sand or better yet, takes a stick 18″ – 26″ long and doves a line in the sand, what do you do? [doves a line . . .  -  means, “you can go up to your side of this line and still keep the peace between us. (It is arbitrary in where the line is located & rarely negotiated.)]

–>  (So) What do you do? I know what I do that works, I sit down and start playing with the line from my side in the sand, cross-legged Indian-style.  — “I sit on my butt & start (zigging) zig-zqzagging the line without changing in position nor location (as if that is the only thing that interests me).” Then –>

“I ask what they got over on that side of the line where they are,  that I want. How’s things look over there on your side – got any good stuff around you to look at? What does it look like? What parts do you like? What kind of stuff do y’all eat – is it that much different than what I like? Do y’all have games you play – your own songs like we do? and then I ask them if they play chess? And do they like it or in a fit of (oh, well) what do you play? cards, or cricket, soccer, polo or you like to watch horse races, cars? You got that over there don’t you?”

Etc., etc., etc. and on it goes – I never cross that line with hands, foot, toes or getsure and if they are very nervous and uncomfortable when I’m playing in the sand with my fingers (I watch their feet,) then I just do back up (1) one foot to look up at them as I’m propping back on one arm  — (like are you gonna talk to me or what – you got something  – anything  better to do?) and on and on it goes.”

—>  after awhile either the person is my friend or isn’t. I never bother to cross the line neither to antagonize them into making a move to cross the line aggressively (if they are annoyed as shit already & can’t be resolved between us at any point to the x – moment I have available ) then a.) I say thankyou for your patience & kindness & I go away   (saying, “Later, then” as I go  ) and I leave, tell no one and sometime later approach again.

or,  (b). I wouldn’t get in a bath with all hot or all cold water if I could help it  –  therefore   (A) yes,  (B) no, —–> are not the only choices  –> so (b) in this case is to construct, create, work with, modify all of what we both want into an “all – win” solution that serves ALL and ANY & EACH & EVERY thing that we both want or we’re not doing it, that is options  (C), (D), (E), (F),  —> through Infinity somewhere.

or –> if none of the above, then (c.) which is to disarm, the stinker; destroy all evidence of the line with my foot and then explain in terms they can understand. At which point  – I just generally take whatever I want, whatever I cam for and then graciously say thankyou as I help them back up on their feet.

[and dust them off and ask if they are hurt anywhere. If they are - I do what I can to fix it (more times than not,) before I leave.]

See y’all later and I’m usually gone by the time the last of it is trailing off in the distance ’cause I got better things to do than this.

So, if y’all are having the line in the sand thing going on, you can follow these as I have and then it works. Otherwise, just go ahead and take their marbles cause they aren’t using them anyway.

To challenge an opponent such as we are – all of us – with hidden strengths and resources is so ridiculous that they obviously aren’t using their marbles and don’t know what to do with them anyway. Just take them marbles and go home. There are better things to do.

Thanx Y’all -

The News from Kudzu Holler – cause I can – Cricket Diane C Phillips – 2008

THE NEWS FROM KUDZU HOLLER -

No its not 2008 – to hear it told – its I don’t know when. That is what I would like everyone to know – that lying is great for beer parties, poker games and other tall tales of chance and imagination. That is where it belongs and what it is great for doing – everything else, anything else, all else and any other occasion – that ain’t it and it ain’t gittin it.

Now – honestly I wasn’t raised around here and all my family from the South calls me a Yankee – which I am but there is County Country Southern Blood running in my heart and its truth o meter – called a BULLOMETER down around me – says Ben Bernanke needs to be sitting in jail for reverence to the code of palpable lying  – tale telling and outright fibbing. He said they knew three months ago and last year they knew bidding problems were occurring behind the scenes on leverages to Bear Stearns – he didn’t say it that way – but it still is what he said.

Then he turned right around – under oath because that is what it is when any American citizen sits there in front of Congress and said they didn’t know but 24 hours before Bear Stearns was going to file collapse – help us bankruptcy court papers. That is a lie – I’m not a professional – I hold no degrees – I have $4.91 in my bank account and most of the time am an ignorant fool much to my chagrin – but even I knew ahead of this it was going to happen because the International Monetary Committees about May of last year (and before) had already said so and I trust they know more about it than I do.

Yes, I read it – it wasn’t hard to find – it was last year and prior to that when I read it so the Federal Reserve DAMN SURE knew it. And lying to Congress isn’t an inconvenience or a little no-no. It is against the law. Who does he think he is? We paid him – right. They don’t pay me. . .

and – even I know to tell the truth to Congress or go to jail and work there paying off the fines for my insolence and poor choices after taking an oath. What?

Yes – a little on the peevey-geevey side from watching two days of C/Span – that’ll rock your world alright.

Love ya’ll anyway – but durn – I’d druther make moonshine than this. And that’s all from Kudzu Cricket’s Asparkin” Holler

“on suicide” – We gotta help stop this as a solution to foreclosure and bankruptcy and failure – Please use this – it works – Cricket Diane

“on suicide”

2008 Cricket Diane C “Sparky” Phillips

I know we’ve all heard the stories, of the deputies coming to the house as a result of these foreclosures being served, hearing shots ring out from the home to find the homeowner gone forever, gun still in hand.

What could I say that would save even one life from this course of action? But, that if I knew, would it ever be heard in time to make a difference?

If I were there in person which I have been on some occasions like this, I would say:

1.  “Hey, don’t waste those expensive bullets and make a durn mess I’ve gotta clean up when you’re done.”

2.  “You do know there is no taxi service back, if you change your mind and don’t like it being dead?”

3.  “You haven’t got one problem that money won’t solve. You’re always making money at stuff, what is the problem?”

4.  “Yes, you’re right. It does suck, it isn’t fair, it isn’t right and it damn sure must be serious if you would give up the only thing you actually do own – you know, we can’t make another one like you, right?”

5.  “You do know – dead might be like on that movie Beetlejuice, you know – quit laughing – that ain’t funny.”

And that’s usually about all it takes – then we can “talk” and I can listen.

I do listen as if there is not one other thing in the entire Universe more important than this – no matter what it is & no matter how long it takes – I do not use foolish repeating crap from what is said to get them to talk more. That is bull and the person I’m with is more valuable than that.

What this person was willing to give away the only thing precious in the Universe over, I want to know. They must be right – it must be that serious because they have already stated that level and degree of seriousness about it by their actions.

All I need to know is why they believe it to be so – not to argue, though sometimes I do, not to debate, not to win, not even to save their ass. I want to know because they may be right and theirs is a menu of options that only includes one.

I do approach it differently cause first, I’m not going to fix “their” emotional well-being, that is not my job – that is their own job.

Second, if this is the first time they’ve had something taken away they worked for, been disappointed or rejects or failed or whatever, I want to know cause that is a thing that threw all of us at least a time or two.

Third, I do know that options of responses to shit happening and this person being right about it are multiple, not singular. By the time anyone has only one option left on the menu (having to do with severely disabling permanent, long-term solutions to short term problems) [like suicide] –> that person needs a new menu & they are limitless.
